Somehow, Halo got them both into the hospital, while maintaining a grip on Sam and skin-on-skin contact, grimacing through all of her contractions.

As Sam was about to be taken away, the nurse turned to the boys. "Alright. Who's the father?" she asked.

"I'm her brother. But I'd rather stay out here if Sam doesn't mind." Liam said and Sam just nodded in agreement.

"I'll come in with her," Halo said firmly.

As a painful contraction hit, Sam let out a wail. "Halo!" she shrieked.

Liam pushed Halo towards his little sister, worry evident in his eyes.

The nurse nodded and gestured for Halo to follow them.

Halo hurried to her side, grasping her hand, eyes watering as he took on her pain, legs almost buckling; somehow, he managed to stay upright.

"Halo.." Sam said after the contraction was gone. Her blue eyes stared up at him in fear.

"It's gonna be okay," Halo murmured softly, brushing hair off her forehead.

"If... If I don't make it.. Please raise him for me.." Sam said, gripping his hand.

"No, you're going to make it," Halo said stubbornly.

"Just.. Please, Halo, I'm scared." Sam whimpered, gripping his hand as another contraction hit.

Halo drew out all of her pain and held it inside him, wincing terribly but nodding all the same. "I promise."

Letting out a shout of pain, the doctor prepared for labor.

Hours later, Liam was sitting in his wheelchair, waiting. Finally, the doctor came out and smiled. "Mom and the little baby boy are doing just fine. You can go in and see them if you'd like." he said and Liam nodded, rolling into the room where Sam was holding her newborn.

Halo was hovering awkwardly in the corner of the room.

Liam smiled at Halo and rolled over to Sam, who smiled tiredly. She showed off her son to her brother and let him take the baby.

Sam looked at Halo and reached out a hand to him.

Halo reluctantly walked over and took her hand, taking out any residual pain she was feeling.

"Halo, I'm okay. I just wanted to say thank you." Sam said softly and leaned up to hug him.

Liam held the baby and smiled.

Halo smiled and hugged back gently. "Does he have a name?" he asked quietly.

Sam pulled back at looked at her son. Her and Justin had never discussed names, and the smile dropped from her face.

Liam looked at his sister and smiled. "What do you want to name him, Sam?" he asked.

"I think Liam's a cool name," Halo suggested, trying to lighten the mood.

"Cain Liam Halo Henderson." Sam said softly.

"You're really going to give him that jerk's last name?" Liam questioned.

Halo jolted in surprise when he heard his own name. "Sam, that's too much."

"That jerk is his father." Sam reminded Liam and then looked at Halo. "What's too much? You took me into your home, you endured hours of labor for me. It's only right."

"And you barely know me. I also... Think Liam's right. At least partially. He's made it clear he doesn't want anything to do with you. You're not dependent on him any more than your child is, and he has no right to this. He can fight for it if he wants, but I don't think he deserves it."

"Well his first name is Cain, so Cain Cain sounds weird." Sam said, smiling. "And just let me, okay? You're not going to change my mind about naming my child after you."

Liam chuckled. "What about Golding?" he suggested playfully.

"Golding has nothing to do with him. I'm just a weirdo who held his mum's hand through labour."
