Tom tried to conjure an illusion, but barely managed a spark he was so upset. He stood and walked to the door.

"He ran away from me. How does that not mean he hates me?" Ben said. "Children don't just run from their parents."

Tom sighed. "Just because I ran away from my brother doesn't mean I hated him. He treated me like dirt, yes, but I didn't hate him. Hate is a strong word."

Ben frowned. "What?" he said and got up. He head up the stairs and went to Jo's room. He knocked on the door and was answered by a sob. Ben sighed. "Jo, sweetheart?" he said softly.
